Recital Etiquette and Reminders

Hello everyone,
As this is the first recital for many students, I thought it would be best to go over recital etiquette before our recital on Sunday. Before I dive into that, I just wanted to give you a few reminders about the recital. There are two separate recitals. There is one at 1:30 and one at 3:30. If you have not given me a time yet please do so as soon as possible so I can get your child on the correct program. Halloween costumes are encouraged but they are not required. If you choose not to wear a costume, please dress formally. Even if your child is not performing at the recital for whatever reason, please feel free to still come and enjoy it!
A few simple, respectful rules to have the most enjoyable recital:
-
I have split the event into two short segments/recitals. Please be respectful of all participants hard work and preparation by waiting to leave until after the final performance. As I have told the students, “You want people to sit and listen while you play, so please show others that same respect.”
-
No talking while students are performing. The less distractions the better! If you need to step out for any reason, please wait until the current performer is through with their piece.
-
Please silence your cell phones!
-
All performers do NOT forget to bow! :)
I cannot wait to see everyone’s amazing hard work pay off on Sunday! You should be just as proud of yourselves as I am to be your teacher! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for reading! Have a great day!

December Newsletter/Policy changes

Happy Holidays families, it has been a great 2017!
I hope everyone has had a great year of practicing, learning, and performing! With 2017 wrapping up, I have some announcements to make for the upcoming year that I would like everyone to know! After resigning from my previous second job and switching to teaching full time, I have learned that I need to make an update to my studio policy ( a common practice among full time teachers). Effective 1/1/18 all students are required to pay for every time slot they are scheduled for regardless of attendance. This new policy has prompted a few technological upgrades to assist with the change. If you are needing to reschedule a lesson, you will be allowed to do so within that same month on the student portal. I have invested in online scheduling so you can reschedule the lesson at a minimum of 48 hours in advance. (The more in advance, the better!) If you are realizing that another permanent day and time might work better, you can also utilize the online schedule to change your regular time.
I am in the process of implementing a few other technological upgrades. I am now able to send invoices and receipts to you electronically and you can log in to see those anytime you want. I am also going to be able to upload documents to the student/parent portal to enhance practicing at home, you can log practice times as well. Another great benefit is that I can now accept credit/debit card payments so you will not have to write a check each time. There are so many things to look forward to with a more organized and successful studio this new year!
I enjoy and am thankful for each of my students and I hope this policy is not going to impact your ability to stay in lessons for the next year.
If you have any questions I am always available by text or phone at 515-612-0728.
Here is to a New Year!
